Soft Gears
2015 Philadelphia
A live audiovisual performance exploring conceptual relationships between women and mechanics.

Surrounded by sewing machines - rhythm, patterns, and interlocking gears - this performance discussed the feminine aspect of mechanical systems, which are often seen as a rigid and masculine field of thought and employment. The physicality of a mechanical system can hold feminine order in its movement, with sound embracing the delicate nature of balanced repetition.

Projected visuals of gears and mechanics were generated with web-based CSS3 animation guided by jQuery interaction. Soundscape performed live using Ableton Live + Moog Voyager, in the Made Studio sewing studio in Olde City, Philadelphia.
